Unfortunately, we did not get enough people to step up and help so the track will be closed on Sunday July 20, 2008. I would just like to thank the Caron's, Thierwechter's, Swann's and the Basnett's for their offer to come help on Sunday. Your offer is sincerely appreciated. We would also like to thank Tim Rockwell for volunteering to cut the grass during the week for us. That saves us quite a bit of time and it is deeply appreciated. As many of you know Billerica BMX is run strictly by volunteers. No one is getting paid to be there. Dave and myself are not always available on a Saturdays to work 6-10 hrs to get things ready for Sunday. We both have full time jobs, families and other priorities and interests like all of you. It is quite upsetting when we end up with the same handful of people helping out for work parties and race days. Most of our help travels well over an hour and a half to help us out. We have a big weekend coming up the first weekend of August and really hoped to have plenty of help to get the track ready. I hope we can convince some of you to please step up and help. Many hands make light work. If we have enough help we can usually get things done in a few hours and you can still enjoy most of your Saturday. It's when only a handful of people show up that we end up having to be there all day. Starting Sunday July 27, 2008 no one will be permitted to practice until they are registered to race. Practice will not start until registration opens which will be when all track maintenance is completed. Practice will close promptly at 1 PM and no one will be permitted to get in line for registration after 1 PM. Also, the families that come out and help work on the track on Sundays will be allowed to register a head of the line. In my opinion if you have time to wait in line for 30 minutes waiting for registration to open you have time to pick up a rake, shovel or broom and help out. One last thing, starting Sunday July 27, 2008 if we do not have 3 corner marshalls the gate will not drop. We should not have to beg for volunteers. In most other sports parents are required to volunteer for so many hours per season. We are not asking for a weekly commitment but really need all of you to help. We have exciting news at Billerica BMX. Billerica BMX will be on National TV. On July 25, 2008 PBS will be at the track filming a TV program called Fetch with Ruff Ruffman. From my understanding the show is like a reality TV show and it has three 12 year old cast members. They will be performing a challenge (a BMX race.) To demonstrate how a gear works. We are asking all of our riders to come out and show support for the track and these 3 cast members. PBS would like a large live audience. This could mean good things for Billerica BMX and the sport of BMX. Please come out if you can. The time will be announced early next week.

Track points have been updated as of 7/13/08. Remember, in order to win an award at the end of the season you must race 5 single point races at Billerica BMX. This includes single track point races as well.

Bring any used BMX gear to the track that you may want to sell. We have a number of new riders looking for helmets, race jerseys, race pants and bikes.
